Are you looking to expand on marketplaces? Wondering what kind of campaign you can run with Google ads? Google offers you an alternative to Amazon for expanding your visibility.

Google’s new marketplace, Google Actions, has been available for a few months now.

Google is taking advantage of its audience crossroads by launching its own marketplace, offering a new place to display and sell its products.

Being present on the shopping.google.co.uk marketplace also means being present on the Google Assistant. The aim is to make it possible to buy your products on the platform without having a website, or going through one. But above all, to offer a simple, fast and secure purchasing experience.

As on an e-commerce site, web users can browse through the products on sale, consulting the latest information on prices and availability.

The aim is to shorten the conversion path, reduce the time spent navigating between several pages and thus reduce the number of shopping cart abandonments.

Google Actions, like other marketplaces, is remunerated on a commission basis on sales generated. The commission rate varies according to category, from 6% for computers to up to 14% for watches.

By way of comparison, here are the commissions applied by their colleagues:

Google Actions is therefore rather advantageous in most categories: perhaps this is linked to the launch of the service. Now’s the time to take advantage.

To date, here are the requirements for selling on Google (which are likely to change over the coming months or years):

  • Only products with delivery and return in France
  • French legal entity, bank account and customer service
  • Own inventory only (no marketplace)
  • New products only (no second-hand or reconditioned)
  • No heavy, bulky products (max 30 kg)

Google handles the return via Colissimo and acts as intermediary between the customer and the advertiser in the event of a dispute. The customer will communicate directly with the advertiser in the event that Google is unable to intervene.

This is the first version, which will evolve over the coming months. Some options, such as a promotional code or delivery to a relay point, are currently under development.

Many brands can therefore be listed on this marketplace.

Shopping Ads is an advertising platform, while Shopping Actions is a sales platform. The two are perfectly compatible. Note that on shopping.google.fr, Shopping Actions products will appear before Shopping Ads: being present on Shopping Action therefore offers a visibility advantage.

If you’d like to start selling your products via Google Actions, our certified Google Ads agency is here to help.
